This March, we are celebrating Women’s history month with Women Owned Company, Goshen Coffee.
Owner Jennifer Hughey and her sister Julie work closely together, leading a strong team to the successful coffee brand they are today. The Goshen Coffee team is committed to sharing good energy and truly believe the answer is "You Get Back What You Give Out".
The company has coined the term "Cultivated Trade," which entails not only paying above fair-trade pricing but also working closely with coffee roasters, exporters, and producers to understand and address the specific needs of each individual farm, thereby helping their businesses succeed. Ultimately, Goshen Coffee is committed to providing financial security and continually reinvesting in its partners.
Goshen Coffee infuses good energy into every step of its roasting process. Using a hybrid of air and drum roasting, the company has achieved a 90% increase in energy efficiency by recycling hot air instead of releasing it. This commitment to sustainability is reflected in every cup.
All of Goshen's coffees are roasted to order, ensuring customers receive the freshest coffee possible. Each batch is meticulously monitored, evaluated with a color reading after cooling, and tasted at the final stage to ensure the highest quality coffee is delivered.
"I tell people that if you are going to be an entrepreneur, you must have a lot of perseverance and sometimes very thick skin. There are always no's before there are yes's and I like to say perseverance is one of the [most valuable] qualities. It's about pushing through every day, no matter the challenges, and being willing to do whatever it takes. I encourage young women to have confidence in themselves to be strong leaders."
