Dierbergs Opens 28th Store On Tuesday, May 5th in University City
For Immediate Release
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – April 29, 2026 - Dierbergs Markets will celebrate the opening of its newest store on Tuesday, May 5, when it welcomes customers to the Market at Olive development located at the southeast corner of Interstate 170 and Olive Boulevard in University City.
Beginning at 8:15 a.m., Dierbergs will host a public ceremony in front of the store (8680 Olive Blvd., University City, MO 63132) to commemorate the opening of the company’s 28th location. Members of the public and media are invited to attend the ceremony before the store officially opens for business at 9 a.m. The event will recognize the many associates, partners and community stakeholders who helped bring the project to life.
“We’ve spent time listening and learning to ensure we’re best serving the University City community and are ready to welcome customers,” said Greg Dierberg, President and CEO of Dierbergs Markets. “This goes beyond expanding an assortment. It reflects our commitment to deliver quality, authentic offerings that truly meet the needs of our customers.”
The new 75,000-square-foot supermarket will deliver an elevated shopping experience featuring several location-specific offerings, including Corner 17, a family-owned Chinese restaurant known for handmade noodles prepared fresh daily and authentic comfort dishes. In addition, the store will feature a thoughtfully curated and significantly expanded assortment of kosher-certified prepared foods, baked goods, and grocery items. This offering reflects a multi-year effort to better serve the local Jewish community, informed by collaboration with area rabbis, engagement with kosher-observant customers, and research in leading markets such as New York City and Chicago.
The store will also include an expanded seafood assortment, Dierbergs Kitchen, featuring our long-time customer-favorite Bob’s BBQ, grab & go prepared foods and quality deli selections, Dierbergs Butcher Shop and Bakehouse, Bob’s Barn for beer, wine & spirits, a health and beauty center, and flower and gift shop.
The refrigeration system is powered by carbon dioxide (CO₂), a more natural alternative to traditional refrigerants. As an early adopter of this advanced technology in the local grocery market, Dierbergs is using a more environmentally conscious solution that helps keep products fresh while reducing overall emissions.
“Dierbergs’ investment in University City represents more than a new grocery store—it reflects the strength, diversity, and momentum of our community,” said Mayor Terry Crow of University City. “This development enhances access to high-quality goods and services, creates meaningful job opportunities, and thoughtfully responds to the needs of our residents. We are proud to welcome a partner that recognizes and celebrates what makes University City such a vibrant and inclusive place to live, work, and grow."
In addition to the grocery store, two multi-tenant buildings will add approximately 8,500 square feet of retail, restaurant and service space along Olive Boulevard.
More than 100 associates will be employed at the new location. Those interested in working at the new store, can explore opportunities at careers.dierbergs.com.
Beginning May 5, store hours will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. The store’s address is 8680 Olive Blvd., University City, MO 63132.
