Chili Cherry Sauce


1 jar (10 to 12 ounces) cherry preserves
1 cup chopped onion
12 cup chili sauce
14 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
12 teaspoon ground red pepper
1 tablespoon dark sesame oil (optional)


In medium saucepan, combine all ingredients except sesame oil over medium-high heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Stir in sesame oil. Store in refrigerator.
