UPDATE, July 18, 2008 – The FDA has revised its June 7 warning regarding the outbreak of Salmonella serotype Saintpaul possibly linked to the consumption of certain types of fresh tomatoes. The FDA now says that consumers may resume enjoying any type of fresh tomato, including raw red plum, raw red Roma, and raw red round tomatoes.
Consumers in "vulnerable" populations (including infants, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems) are still warned against eating jalapeño and serrano peppers as a possible link through these foods continues to be investigated.

St. Louis, June 10, 2008 – Following a nationwide Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warning for consumers and retailers that a salmonellosis outbreak has been linked to the consumption of certain tomatoes (including raw red plum, red Roma and red round tomatoes), Dierbergs Markets has pulled from its shelves all affected tomatoes.
All tomatoes remaining on Dierbergs shelves have been deemed safe by the FDA.
Dierbergs customers may return affected tomatoes to any Dierbergs store for a full refund.
