1 loaf (8 ounces) French baguette, cut into 1-inch slices
4 eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries (do not thaw)
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
Arrange bread in single layer in greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish. In large bowl with hand mixer, beat eggs, milk, the 1/2 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Pour mixture evenly over bread; turn slices as needed to coat completely. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Just before baking, sprinkle berries over bread. In small saucepan, heat butter with the 1/4 cup brown sugar over medium heat until bubbly. Drizzle over berries. Bake in 375 degree F. oven until set, about 25 to 30 minutes. If desired, dust top with powdered sugar.
