Our Associates are actively involved in the development of our Extra Step program.  The Extra Step program is designed to provide excellence in customer service and to recognize Associates who are committed to the Extra Step philosophy.



Dierbergs is committed to providing value added Extra Step service for each customer.  Going the Extra Step means:
  • Doing more than just "expected performance"
  • Always remembering to treat every customer the way you would want to be treated
  • Treating every customer with courtesy and respect
  • Building customer confidence in you and in Dierbergs
  • Greeting customers with a warm, friendly smile
  • Thanking customer by name
  • Doing more to make Dierbergs customers feel important
There are many ways in which an Associate can be recognized as an Extra Stepper: 
  • A letter from a customer
  • Recommendation from store management or a fellow Associate
  • A mystery shopper
Each week an Extra Step Update is issued from the Corporate Office.  The Extra Step Update lists by store those Associates who have been awarded for value added customer service.  Anyone recognized on the Extra Step Update receives a letter of recognition.  After accumulating:
  • 5 recognition letters, the Associate is a member of the SILVER CLUB
  • 10 recognition letters, the Associate is a member of the GOLD CLUB
  • 25 recognition lettes, the Associate is a member of the PRESIDENT'S CLUB
  • 50 recognition letters, the Associate is a member of the CHAIRMAN'S CLUB
At each level of recognition Associates are presented gift awards.  Chairman Club members are also invited to a special lunch with Bob Dierberg where  gifts are awarded.
