Knowing this, our seafood department works stringently to make sure the product we our providing our customers is top notch. It is our goal to partner with seafood organizations and fisheries committed to protecting our oceans and environment by responsibly harvesting wild and farmed seafood species throughout the world. We ask for certification from third-party organizations whose focus and goal is to protect the species and our environment so that we can continue to enjoy delicious, healthy seafood for many years to come!

Our selection of shrimp in our service case is entirely all natural and chemical free (we suggest reading the label when buying shrimp as you will find a lot of shrimp on the market is treated with tripolyphosphate and sodium bisulfite). We offer shrimp completely cooked (tail-on cocktail or tail-off shrimp) and raw (shell on, EZ Peel and peeled and deveined). Plus, our line of Ultra Shrimp has no chemicals, hormones or antibiotics added – just pure, natural great tasting wholesome shrimp!

Wild Caught Alaskan Salmon

Known for its prized superior flavor and color, wild caught Alaskan salmon is an excellent choice while in season (mid-May through mid-September). The flavor and color come from feeding on a natural diet and the texture comes from the annual migration to the cold North Pacific. We pride ourselves in bringing in choice Alaskan Sockeye, Yukon River Keta and Coho Salmon throughout the fresh salmon season. In addition, we offer Alaskan Sockeye through the winter as frozen fillets or refreshed in our service case.

Mussels

Prince Edward Island Mussels

These mussels are farmed in the clean, clear waters of Prince Edward Island. Overseen by the Canadian Shellfish Sanitation Program, regular testing is done to make sure the mussels are free from toxins. Once harvested, each Prince Edward Island mussel is inspected before shipping to our stores to ensure only the best quality.

Scallops

Pure & Natural Scallops

Dierbergs seafood department scallops are domestic pure dry scallops. This means the scallops are caught within the U.S., shucked while still on the boat, and immediately put into a dry container with no water or preservatives. This results in purer, concentrated flavor and guaranteed fresh when bought. Chefs always choose pure dry scallops for best flavor, texture and, of course, signature caramelization when seared.

Oysters and Clams

Sewansecott Salt Water Oysters & Clams

These ocean-grown Sewansecott oysters & clams are grown in the pristine waters of Hog Island Bay, Virginia, located within the 80-mile chain of undeveloped barrier islands of the Virginia Coast Reserve. The area has been designated and protected as a United Nations Biosphere Reserve. Family owned and operated for 110 years, Sewansecott practices sustainable harvesting methods for ecological preservation. Each oyster and clam are hand-harvested upon demand and shipped directly to our stores. But the best part about these oysters & clams? The great salty taste, of course!
