Almond Cream Cheese Cookies

4 ounces (1/2 of 8-ounce package) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup Dierbergs butter, softened
1 cup Dierbergs granulated sugar
1 large Dierbergs egg
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/4 cups Dierbergs flour
1 package (2 ounces) ground almonds
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
36 whole almonds
Dierbergs powdered sugar
In large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, butter, and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add egg and almond extract; beat well. In small bowl, mix together flour, ground almonds, baking powder, and salt. Add to cream cheese mixture and beat until well blended. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Press down to make each cookie about 2 inches in diameter. Insert 1 whole almond into each cookie. Bake in 350°F. oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
