Michelle Pasia has always been curious about food. And like a lot of kids, she first became interested in cooking at a young age while spending time in the kitchen with her mom. As her cooking experience grew over the years, her curiosity about food grew right along with her, but took a slightly different path.
“I became more and more curious about how food impacted our health.” Michelle studied nutrition and completed her internship at Syracuse University in New York, and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Public Health at Hunter College in New York City. She is currently a Registered and Licensed Dietitian working in the Community Education Department at Missouri Baptist Medical Center.
Michelle is also part of Dierbergs Eat Hearty Team – the partnership between Dierbergs School of Cooking and Missouri Baptist – where she helps cooking class participants learn about new healthy products and how to incorporate all foods into everyday life. She encourages each person to make small changes in their eating habits which will have a big impact on their overall health.
When she’s not working with clients, Michelle enjoys outdoor activities and most importantly, cooking with her own young children. “I want to teach my kids at a young age the importance of eating healthy and also to enjoy food.”
Michelle’s Cooking Tip: “I want people to learn that healthy food is also delicious.”
