Cooking quickly became a passion for Chef Cassy Vires, partly because she didn’t have much of a choice as to whether she wanted to or not. Growing up in a single parent household, Cassy took on the job of cooking for not only herself but for her siblings as well. Luckily, she grew to love it and continued on cooking ever since.
After graduating from the Art Institute of Houston, she now is the chef and owner of Home Wine Kitchen where she gets to cook every day. Home Wine Kitchen’s menu stays fresh and new on a weekly basis but shows its best skills in cooking up comfort food. The cheeseburger has gotten the approval of many customers.
Home Wine Kitchen is a reflection of its owner. Chef Cassy said she “never does the same thing twice” when it comes to cooking. She also loves using bacon in her recipes because it has smoke, salt, and fat. What’s not to love?
When it comes to Chef Cassy’s classes, she hopes people learn cooking techniques rather than just how to copy a recipe.
Chef Cassy’s Cooking Tip: “Make it up as you go…it’s more fun that way.”
