Magic Pretzel Wands

Magic Pretzel Wands

Ingredients

1 cup (6 ounces)) chocolate chips
¼ cup Dierbergs creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon solid shortening (not butter or margarine)
18 (½ of 12-ounce package) 7-inch pretzel rods
Decorator sprinkles

Directions

In 2-cup glass measure, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and shortening. Microwave (high) stirring every 30 seconds for 1 to 2 minutes, or until shortening melts. Stir until chocolate is melted and smooth.

Tip glass measure slightly. Dip about ⅔ of 1 pretzel rod into chocolate mixture; remove from chocolate mixture, twirling to coat. Gently scrape end of pretzel against inside top edge of measuring cup to remove excess chocolate.

While chocolate is still soft, sprinkle with decorator sprinkles; pat gently. Place on parchment-lined tray and chill to set. Repeat with remaining pretzels. (If chocolate mixture becomes too thick, add ½ teaspoon solid shortening and microwave 30 seconds; stir until chocolate is melted and smooth.)

To store, place wands in airtight container between layers of parchment or waxed paper.

For Princess Wands  Use white chocolate chips, omit peanut butter, and increase shortening to 1 tablespoon. Melt as directed and decorate with pastel colored sprinkles.
