Homemade Hot Chocolate


2 cups half-and-half
1 cup Dierbergs whole milk
¼ cup Dierbergs sugar
1 bar (3 ounces) dark chocolate, broken into small pieces
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Aerosol whipped cream
Chocolate shavings


In 8-cup glass measure, combine half-and-half, milk, and sugar.

Microwave high 3 minutes; whisk until sugar dissolves. Microwave high 2 minutes.

Add chocolate; let stand 5 minutes. Stir until chocolate is melted and smooth.

Microwave high 1 minute. Stir in vanilla.

Ladle into mugs; top with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings. Serve immediately.
