St. Louis, January 9, 2012 - In response to a voluntary recall by Novartis Consumer Health, Dierbergs Markets has removed specific lots of Bufferin, Excedrin, Gas-X and No Doz products from its shelves. The recall is a precautionary measure because the products may contain stray tablets, capsules, or caplets from other products or may contain broken tablets.

All Excedrin and No Doz products involved in the recall have expiration dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier. All Bufferin and Gas-X products have expiration dates of December 20, 2013 or earlier.
Novartis said different products in the same bottle could result in consumers taking an incorrect product, receiving a higher or lower strength than intended, or receiving an unintended ingredient, which could potentially result in overdose or an allergic reaction.
Customers may return the affected product to any Dierbergs for a full refund.
Consumers and customers in the US who have questions can call the Consumer Relationship Center at 1-888-477-2403 (available Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time) or visit the Novartis OTC website.
Update January 11, 2012 - Excedrin Extra Strength Caplets (24 ct.) added to list of recalled products.
