Seger was our Pet of the Week back in September. He had a rough start in life, which you could see by the marks on his back. Although if you asked him, he would've told you he forgot they were there. He thought everyone and everything is his friend! Little did he know a very special friend was waiting for him in the form of a pint-sized pal!
Seger's new name is now Stout. Within the first few minutes of meeting his new family, they knew they had found the perfect dog! It wasn't his friendly, docile, anxious-to please personality... instead it was the way he gently placed his head on the family's 16-month-old daughter's lap upon meeting her that convinced them. Little did they know that in that very moment, a special friendship had formed and the two have been inseparable. Stout has made it crystal clear that all he cares about is giving and receiving love. Every night at dinner time, the little girl takes it upon herself to ensure that he is fed. Kibble by kibble, she will fill her little hand with dog food and attempt to fill his bowl. The family says it is so much fun to watch her laughing with delight the entire time while Stout just follows her back and forth until she is done –- happily eating up any kibble she may drop on the floor. Having Stout around has given a whole new sense of playtime for the little girl. The family has been extremely surprised by how gentle he is with her – like he knows how to play at her level. He is involved in most of the family's daily activities including short trips to the store, taking walks, going to the park and cuddling with the family when they're sitting on the couch. They say he has created so many wonderful memories in such a short amount of time. They feel so lucky and extremely grateful to have him as a part of their family.
Since having Stout join the family, they comment every day on what a great dog he is – and how lucky they feel to have found him. At only 9 months old, they have declared Stout to be the most well behaved dog they have ever owned.
