Central Design General Manager The primary purpose for this position is to ensure smooth and efficient operations for the floral operations of Floral Central Design while driving floral sales and maintaining high standards in accordance with our Mission Statement. The General Manager is responsible for the management and direction of all areas of Central Design. Must demonstrate a strong awareness of the competition as well as develop strategies and tactics to maintain a competitive advantage to achieve long-term business success in the marketplace.
Primary Responsibilities
Operations and Financials
- Manages and analyzes total financial results to ensure maximum profits while driving floral sales and at the same time balancing customer and Associate satisfaction.
- Effectively manages transportation, procurement, telephone sales, floral design and arrangement, building maintenance, logistics. inventory, quality control, shrink, sales and labor, forecasting, scheduling, safety, warehouse and store floral operations.
- Manages the flow of products from the time ordered until the product is received by the customer, balancing efficiency and creating a good customer experience.
- Work closely with the Floral Director to identify new product offerings and the Advertising department to effectively advertise and market our product.
- Makes sure that all products are of the highest quality.
- Assists the Managers in operating and directing the activities of the department to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency with minimum loss or waste.
Management of Associates and Associate Relations
- Leads, directs and supervises the Managers and their Associates to form a cohesive team to produce quality products of high quality consistently and efficiently.
- Drives and monitors work performance through providing clear direction, providing meaningful feedback, holding people accountable and focusing on continual growth and development.
- Partners with the Human Resources department in the interviewing, hiring, training, appraising, and development of the workforce.
- Proactively includes staff in planning, decision making, and facilitating process improvements
- Supports and enforces company policies and procedures
- Resolves Associate and union issues; follows and enforces union contract guidelines and rules.
- Maintains a safe and secure work environment and continually builds safety awareness. Ensures compliance with all safety programs and policies.
- Implements and communicates company directives, changes and expectations in a positive way
Customer Service and Relations - Ensures customer satisfaction in all areas of the operation; look at strategies to create customer loyalty in Dierbergs Florist.
- Continually develops relationships with internal and external business partners to drive sales (funeral home relationships, vendors, Dierbergs Property Management, Accounting, Risk Management, IT and Human Resources).
Qualifications and Skills Experience - College degree preferred
- Five plus years of business experience with increasing responsibility
- Ideal candidate will possess plant/store management experience in a retail and/or wholesale environment
- Floral experience is preferred but not required
